The Norman Gonshaw Thomas Tompion parquetry long case clock

A finely made reproduction of a Thomas Tompion parquetry longcase clock

The signed walnut case with moulded cornice to the hood over silk-lined sound fret, three-quarter barley twist columns, the trunk with ebony moulded door with ebony and boxwood fan inlays, the base with moulded plinth, the 10 inch gilt brass dial with silvered chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, the faithfully copied movement with six knopped and finned pillars, bolt and shutter maintaining power, anchor escapement and internal count-wheel striking on a bell 200cm (6ft6.75in) high. Estimate: £8,000 - 12,000

Norman Gonshaw received, in 1999, The Ivor Frost memorial trophy for best horological work exhibited. The clock is sold with its certificate and silver winner's medal.
